2024/5 report

Minutes of the 2025 AGM are available here.

A record field of 56 golfers turned out at Worplesdon for the final meeting of the 2024/5 season, and despite leaden skies the rain largely stayed away - a welcome relief to those who recalled last year’s soggy day out.

Drainage work on the second hole meant that the event was contested over 17 holes, but that didn’t stop the runaway winner Matthew Sheppard, who accumulated a staggering 44 points over 17 holes - enough for an 8-shot win over Mark Young and Samuel Pitt.

Nick Smith retained the gross with a 3-over par score, enough for a three-shot win over Samuel Pitt, with Olivier Chatain and Steve Henderson a shot further back.

After presenting Chris with his trophy, captain Jon Davie moved on to announce the winners of the Royds knockout and season-long Scorange trophies.

Congratulations to Mark Alford & Nick Carter who won the Royds Trophy, defeating Matt Reynolds & Steve Kilpatrick in the final. The Royds Plate was won by Garrett O’Reilly & Tom Darlington, who triumphed on the 19th hole over chairman Andy Byrd and his partner Chris Pinnington.

The Scorange is awarded to the golfer who has the best average stableford score across the season, with a minimum of four rounds required. The leader running into the event was Steve Kilpatrick, whose absence from the field created an opportunity for a number of contenders, but captain Jon Davie emerged victorious - his 33-points over 17 holes being enough to sneak past Kilpatrick’s total.

After presenting the prizes, the captain called the assembled IPAGs to order for the AGM - please click here for the minutes
