September Tour
Prince’s Golf Club
19 - 20 September 2024
After the success of our 2023 visit to the Kent coast, we will return to Prince’s Golf Club for an overnight trip on 19/20 September. The trip includes 36 holes of championship links golf, with dinner, bed and breakfast at Prince’s excellent on-site lodge.
2023 report
The IPAGs are lucky enough to enjoy a fixture list that takes us to many of of the finest golf clubs in England. A golfer could never tire of summer days on the Surrey heathlands, but occasionally we may dream of a trip to the seaside - the sea air, a stiff breeze and the sheer pleasure of hitting crisp iron shots off tight links turf.
And so an intrepid band of 12 IPAGS embarked on a tour to the Kent coast. Prince’s was our destination, with 27 holes of golf and on-site accommodation at the club’s excellent lodges.
We arrived to benign conditions, by coastal standards at least - light winds, warm sunshine and a course presented in beautiful condition. But venture off the rumpled fairways and Prince’s showed its teeth, with deep thick rough just a few paces from the playing area.
Our first round leader Karen Crum showed that good scoring was possible if you kept the ball in play off the tee - 36 points giving her a two shot lead over captain Ed Glover and his vice captain Jon Davie.
After an evening of hearty food, plentiful wine and not quite enough sleep, the group reconvened on day two. Ed sprinted out of the gates to post a sensational front nine, but Karen carried on where she left off - coming home with 42 points.
Matt Reynolds posted a creditable 37 points and the captain managed 39, but neither could catch the imperious Crum, who cruised to the overall prize.
A blind pairs draw saw Karen and Matt take home another prize, while Jon, Matt, Ed and Steve Henderson claimed the remainder.
Congrats to Karen on a fantastic performance on her debut event as an IPAGs member. A great time was had by all and we look forward to taking the IPAGS on the road again in 2024.
